Our original 100+ team of Polly, Ian Harry and Natalie unfortunately disintagrated for various reasons but we had Nathan to step in and were joined by Lisa Spence from Saffron Walden RC to make up an area 8 team. We also had Corinne who qualified in the 90cms.
It is a fantastic venue and we also had fabulous weather for the weekend which starts with the 80cms class who do a one day event and the 100cms and 100+ take part in a trot up at the beginning of the day and then their dressage. Natalie and Nathan got good scores 31 each and Lisa was on 35.
The next day was the roads and tracks and steeplechase followed by the cross country for the 100 and 100+ competitors whilst Corrine did her dressage and show jumping. The roads and tracks are to be completed in a certain time as is the steeplechase and then you have 10 minutes in the box where your horse is vet checked and then straight off on the cross country course which was testing over undulating ground with a few technical fences and a jump in the water. All three completed clear which put the team in a very competitive position over night. Corinne had a fab dressage score of 24 and just a couple of time penalties in the show jumping.
Sunday brought another trot up for the100 and 100+ competitors, which Nathan and Natalie’s horses passed with flying colours however unfortunately Lisa’s horse was lame so not presented which put us out of the team competition. The Show jumping was huge and caused a lot of trouble and Nathan unfortunately had a few poles but Natalie managed just one pole which put her in 9th place in her section. Corinne had the roads and tracks, steeplechase and cross country and finished clear with just a few time penalties to finish 7th in her section.
Its a fabulous competition, largely very well run and I would recommend it to any of our eventing club members to try and get there
